One Wild Race

Beginning May 2016, Gary "Ted" Sargent, a sailor from Dublin, will attempt to single-handedly sail a 13-foot dinghy around the entire coastline of Ireland -- One Wild Ride -- starting and finishing in Schull, Co. Cork.

Ted is sailing a Laser around Ireland. He recently set off from Schull. Track his progress on the website and make a donation if you wish. Ted & Team are stopping over in Glandore. Anticipated arrival sometime between 22 - 26 June.

GHYC have offered shore support including beds for one night stay. There will be 5 - 7 people. If you can accommodate one of the team contact John Wyles.

Man Overboard: The Most Important Race

Reminder to all boat owners with moorings.

See note below from Don Street & photos.

Bad Mooring

Bad Mooring Iron Shackle

Next time you come to Glandore look at the mooring line that came ashore during winter. Big line nicely made up, beautiful splice around a stainless thimble, beautiful stainless swivel, but iron shackle connecting the line to the swivel wasted to the point the shackle pin is about 1/16 inch!!!!! obviously the shackle attaching the swivel to the ground chain wasted away.
