Glandore Harbour Yacht Club wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Charlie Hurley, who passed away on Sunday 6th January.

Charlie was an enthusiastic GHYC member and active sailor for many years. He was joint owner, and regular crew of the Dragon ‘ Yam’ with Ian Davidson and John Kenny.

It is nice to see his grandchildren maintaining his heritage participating in the Yacht Club, and in the Junior Sailing courses.

Charlie was an accomplished athlete and participated in many sports, most notably Rugby, which he played with Skibbereen RFC, and then with Railway Union Rugby Club in Dublin, where he was a past President and Honorary Life Member.

He was a Union Hall native, and will be laid to rest in Myross graveyard after 1.00pm mass in St. Brigid’s Church on Thursday 10th January.

Charlie was a true gentleman and great company. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
