The dates for the School Sailing 2020 are as follows:

• Glandore 2nd – 4th  June inclusive.
• Union Hall Friday 5th, Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th June
• Abbeystrewry 10th – 12th  June inclusive
• Leap 15th -17th June inclusive.

The schools regatta is due to be run on the afternoon of the 17th June.

Background to the School Sailing

The “School Sailing” program has been running for over a decade now. Each year the students of local schools get an invaluable chance to engage in the “Thrills and Spills” of sailing. The aim of the Program is to introduce the students to sailing in an informal way, have fun and enjoy themselves, and hopefully they will be encouraged to take part in the sport which is available on their doorstep.

There are four National Schools that are currently involved:
– Abbeystrewry
– Glandore
– Leap
– Union Hall

The Program takes place in June, where each school has a three-day session and ending at the end of June with the Inter Schools Regatta. Again here the emphasis is taking part and having fun. But it also gives the parents an opportunity to meet up and mingle.
