Four GHYC junior sailors Clodagh, Marie, Billy & Peter sailed out in a Vision to meet One Wild Ride sailor Gary. The OWR team decided to save time and distance and Gary sailed in to Squince Harbour at about 4.30pm last night. The escort rib came in to Glandore Harbour to moor for the night, then the team met in Casey's Bar, Union Hall. Anne O'Mahony brought the juniors in and to UH to meet Gary.
OWR team stayed the night in Keelbeg and are now on their way to Heir Island and will overnight in Baltimore. The last leg back in to Schull will be sailed on Saturday.

25th Anniversary Cruise
The 25th Anniversary Cruise of the IWDG vessel Celtic Mist takes place this summer and she plans to be in Glandore on or before 28 July 2016
GHYC are planning to invite the organizers and crew to give talks for GHYC Club Members which will also include the local youth. The boat would also be open for visitors to come onboard while moored and there will be merchandise and publications available. There is a documentary called the Humpback Whales of Cape Verde which is being shown around the country and will be able to put on a screening for GHYC members.
There could also be opportunities for Club members to actually take part and be on board during parts of the cruise, the sectors that could be available are Arklow to Glandore and the final leg from Glandore to Fenit.
If you are interested in this opportunity please contact GHYC Vice Commodore
CHECK YOUR MOORING!
Reminder to all boat owners with moorings.
See note below from Don Street & photos.
Next time you come to Glandore look at the mooring line that came ashore during winter. Big line nicely made up, beautiful splice around a stainless thimble, beautiful stainless swivel, but iron shackle connecting the line to the swivel wasted to the point the shackle pin is about 1/16 inch!!!!! obviously the shackle attaching the swivel to the ground chain wasted away.
