Over the years we have been approached by a lot of adults, often parents of our Junior sailors, for an “Introduction to sailing” geared specifically for adults, because it’s not fair if the juniors have all the fun.
Over the years we have built in a number of approaches
- an introductory course over 4 evenings (usually 6pm to 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays) or a weekend. The course takes people through the sailing basics in our RS Quest dinghies or Squib keelboat. While the aim of the course is to make you a competent crew, our instructors will be encouraging anyone who wants to helm to do just that.
- volunteer as Squib or Dragon crew. This allows people to try racing in our active keelboat fleets which race regularly in Glandore and in which there are plenty of crewing opportunities for anyone who would like to continue sailing throughout the season.
- ‘Try Sailing’ Session – this is a one off, no commitment for those who would just like to get a feel for sailing, followed of course by a social aspect afterward.
