Keelboat racing at GHYC
The summer calendar is well underway. The Squibs have completed their Derby and the Dragons are anticipating their Derby next weekend, 9/10 July.
The fleets will be racing from to and from Castletownshend, with lunch at Mary Ann’s, on 16th July.
Then on the 30th July keelboats are invited to sail in a new event, The 1908 Race, which follows a course out of the harbour and back, rounded up to three times, in accordance with Sailing Instructions from 1908!
The 40th Anniversary of the Lar Casey Cup for Dragons will be sailed for on 13/14 August during the Regatta weekend. Closely followed by the Glandore Inn Rose Bowls for Dragons and Squibs to be sailed on 20/21 August.
The fleets race to Castletownshend again on 27th August in the Karen Horgan Memorial event.
All this activity in Glandore Harbour can only take place with the help of many volunteers to support the Race Committee and to operate the safety and mark laying boats.
The Club needs lots of help, so please do volunteer and join in the fun. If you want to get on the water and be close to the action please contact the Commodore or Sailing Secretary.
