Happily some dialogue has broken out between the Local Authority and local groups who use the Pier. This of course is what everyone agrees should have happened in the first place. A meeting will take place this month with all local interests represented. Developments will be reported. Initial indications are positive, but we will see. Thanks to all the friends of GHYC from all four corners of Ireland and from several continents who took the time to make submissions, contact elected representatives or the media or who just sent messages of support and concern. A special thanks to Christopher O Sullivan TD who gave a lot of his time to meet with and hear the views of all the local groups and bodies including GHYC and who raised the matter from the Dail floor yesterday in a question to the Minister about Keelbeg Pier and also Glandore Pier. https://fb.watch/cZ08yLcjmc/
In another positive development there is a firm indication that the local authority will soon reinstate the visitors’ moorings that were removed from Glandore along with some possibly in Union Hall. This would be very welcome news for visiting yachtsmen as well as local bars and restaurants and other business interests. Commodore GHYC
