On Friday 21st July over one hundred ladies gathered in Connolly’s of Leap for our annual Ladies Lunch.
It’s a day to dress up, park the job, the family and everything else and head out to enjoy a day with old friends, new friends and the eclectic gang that gathers for this event.
As always the Club ladies bring along friends and neighbours, Union Hall ladies turned out in force and the crew from Baltimore and Schull grew considerably this year. The beautiful new wooden stage at the back of Connolly’s provided an exceptional backdrop but our Balearic music was defeated by the noise of chat and laughter.
Competition was stiff and that was just for the spot prizes, someone did manage to win a prize for guessing our esteemed Commodore’s middle name! We were blessed with the afternoon’s weather and this allowed people to scatter to several destinations when lunch finally ended.
The men were happy to return many taxi favours and well dressed ladies were spotted very late into the night at various hot spots in the parish.
The people who managed to get teams to Baltimore the following day for the Marconi cup deserve particular praise.
